I came up with the idea for this blog when someone asked me what I do, and I didn’t know what to say. Because of the stigma of having a mental illness, I did not want to answer truthfully: I’m not working right now, because I am “managing mental illness full-time” (the original tagline for the site).
Since then, the blog has evolved into more of a creative outlet–a place where I can express my thoughts and feelings about living with a mental illness in different ways. Here, you will find my first-hand experiences of living with Bipolar Disorder II. You might see poetry, essays, journal entries, or creative writing.
With this blog, I hope to give a voice to those who don’t quite know how to speak for themselves about this subject. I hope to make an impact by giving the friends and family of those suffering from mental illness a glimpse into the reality of what this life is like.
Look around and find something that speaks to you–it’s you I’m writing for.
