Speaking Up (My Mental Illness Journey)

Thank you to Soul Searching for featuring my story on their site today. It is about my experience with speaking up when I don’t feel safe, and how that has saved me from myself.

“I hadn’t been in college very long, but even though I had settled in and made some close friends, I began to feel like something was not right. I was sad all the time, and crying for no reason. It lasted for many months, and finally it got so bad that I contemplated suicide. Something inside myself made me reach out for help: I admitted my suicidal thoughts to a school therapist, who sent me to the hospital, where my journey to a diagnosis began…”
